Shopbetter

Shopbetter is a project born after an experience as a polyvalent employee in a food shop. I wanted to imagine a service to help people navigate in their groceries and limit the waste between buying and consuming.

Exploration

Main issues observed

Missed conception of rotting dates

"To consume until" and "Best before" are sometimes misunderstood by the consumer, leading to the waste of still edible food.

Food = mental charge?

Valorization of fresh food is often forgotten to the profit of easy to prepare and eat plates, depending on the profile of the consumer. Short dates articles are here cheaper, but easily forgotten in the fridge.

Waste in shop despite dispositives

Food in too short dates are lessened in price when noticed in time (organization, now stocks are automatized), then given to associations or "Too good to go". There are laws in France for that.

Solution

  • Shared list by all the house.

  • Possibility to add until three houses in case of multiple domiciliation.

  • Fridge page with "limit" dates and tips on how to conserve better or longer.

  • Add ingredients to the fridge by scanning products, tickets or bills.

  • Recommended easy recipes based on the list, the fridge, the tastes of the concerned house and the "limit" dates.

  • Recommended promotions in the registered shops based on habits, list and tastes.

  • Possibility to save the recipes.

  • Possibility to see by number the waste throughout the months.
